The mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, is
‘very pleased’ with the start of the
‘long-awaited’ work to double the exit from Motorway 3 to Famalicão.
The project, which is being carried out by Brisa Concessão Rodoviária, the concessionaire for the motorway that connects Porto to Braga and Valença for a total of 112 kilometres, is already on the ground and will solve the problem of the long, time-consuming queue that forms there every day at the end of the day, which the mayor has worked hard to resolve with the concessionaire.
Mário Passos also praised Brisa's position, which was sensitive to the local authority's demands for this problem to be resolved quickly, recalling the various meetings and demarches that have taken place over recent times with the company.
The intervention will take place over six months and should be completed by January 2025. During this period, it will involve ‘some constraints, by means of duly signalled traffic diversions, the implementation of lane cuts and/or traffic tilts’.
In a statement, Brisa also thanked the drivers ‘in advance for their understanding and cooperation and hopes to help reduce any inconvenience resulting from this operation, being sure that the possible inconvenience will be largely offset by the level of quality, safety and comfort that will result from a motorway that is better adapted to the needs of those who use it’.
