Famalicão invests in sports training for visually impaired children - Portal do Município de Vila Nova de Famalicão - Portugal

The Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, in association with the University of Athens (Greece), the Euphoria Net association (Italy) and Real Eyes Sport (Italy), will develop the "Move as You Are" sports project, which aims to support social inclusion and overcome the sporting barriers faced by visually impaired children.

The project will be implemented between 2024 and 2025, and involves funding of around 25,000 euros from the European "Erasmus + Sports" fund.

Over the course of two years, the municipality, through the Sports department, will collect and analyse the best European practices related to the involvement of blind citizens in sport, with a view to creating a tailor-made non-formal educational programme aimed at coaches and physical education teachers as the first target group, which could be extended to associations, physiotherapists, among other social actors in the municipality.
