The Mayor of Famalicão, Mário Passos, continued his visits around the area this Tuesday, this time stopping off in Fradelos, the largest parish in the municipality in terms of area, where he visited work that had been done and projects in progress, and analysed with the parish mayor and the associative movement other investments to be made.
As he has done in recent visits, Mário Passos began the afternoon working at the table with the children of the Sapugal School Centre. The mayor then headed to NFI - Nouvelles Fermetures, an aluminium industry that employs around 350 workers and has a preferred market in France for the aluminium doors and windows it produces.
‘In addition to the works, we try to listen to the economic and associative fabric, both with these visits to companies and with the meetings we organise with the civic, cultural and sporting movements in each of the parishes, in order to understand their wishes and the projects they are developing,’ said Mayor Mário Passos.
In Fradelos, the parish councillor pointed to the requalification of the churchyard as a project he would like to realise soon, with the architectural project currently in the execution phase. Adelino Costa also mentioned the redevelopment of Rua do Sapugal and the refurbishment and extension of the Casa da Cultura (House of Culture), where the Associação Musical Educativa de Fradelos (Fradelos Musical Educational Association) is housed, which aims to expand the space for activities. ‘We have significant investments underway, such as the Multipurpose Pavilion, but we're also working with the Municipality on these projects,’ said Adelino Costa.
Moreover, investment in the road network has been significant, such as Rua Lusíada, Rua da Independência, Rua da Quinta and Rua da Maruja, which were upgraded with municipal support totalling 90,000 euros.
‘Through the protocols with the parish councils it has been possible to realise works like these and this connection has been very fruitful,’ added Mário Passos.
The different parish movements discussed another important project for the parish, specifically the construction of a new sports park for the Grupo Desportivo de Fradelos, an ambition of the club, which has already identified a plot of land to start the project. ‘The associative movement plays an important role in energising the community and we're here to support projects like this,’ said Mário Passos.
The mayor will visit the parish of Vermoim next week.
