Over fifty schools in Vila Nova de Famalicão distinguished with the Green Eco-School Flag

16-09-2021
About 54 schools in the county of Famalicão were distinguished with the Green Flag Award "Eco-Schools", an international programme, coordinated by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), implemented in Portugal by the European Blue Flag Association (ABAE), which aims to encourage actions, recognise and reward the work developed by schools, regarding the improvement of their environmental performance, management of school space and community awareness.

It should be noted that, in the "Eco-Schools" programme, about 55 institutions from Famalicão were enrolled in the school year 2020/2021, which is an increase of six schools compared to 2019/2020, a period in which 49 institutions were awarded, in a total of 53 enrolled.

Alongside this distinction, the "Eco-Groupings" award was also given to the following school groupings: Camilo Castelo Branco, D. Sancho I, Padre Benjamim Salgado and Ribeirão.

It should be recalled that a school that joins the "Eco-Schools" commits to developing a set of actions and activities that should involve the different elements of the school community, with special focus on students, teachers, educational assistants, parents and the surrounding community, namely the county.
