"The night of every day" is the name of the new exhibition that will be on show at the Ala da Frente municipal gallery in Vila Nova de Famalicão from Saturday 8 June. The exhibition opens today at 6pm in the presence of the author, artist Maria Capelo, and can be visited until 4 October.
"The landscape has been the object of study and attention in Maria Capelo's work," says the curator of the contemporary art gallery, António Gonçalves, adding that the artist's work, which will be on display in Famalicão, "shows us sections of work she has developed using the drawing technique, in which the simplicity of the elements and the veracity of the gestures provide an interested contemplation." In a "gesture that radiates the china ink stains, she sustains deconstructions of the elements of the landscape (mountain, tree) to reorganise them into compositions of authenticity and enchantment".
Maria Capelo is an artist from Lisbon, born in 1970, with a degree in Painting from the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. She has been exhibiting regularly since 1996, both in Portugal and abroad.
