Vila Nova de Famalicão City Council is going to reward companies and IPSS in the municipality that stand out for developing exemplary policies and good practices in promoting gender equality at work, in employment and in vocational training, and for adopting principles and measures to reconcile professional, family and personal life.
All through the "Prémio + Igual" (+ Equal Award), for which applications are open between 20 June and 20 July at www.famalicao.pt/premio--igual.
To distinguish entities that promote positive actions in the area of equality; to publicise exemplary cases and measures, informing and sensitising managers and the entire community to the nature and importance of these measures; promoting the adoption of concrete measures aimed at equality between women and men at work, in employment and in vocational training and improving the quality of employment, particularly with regard to reconciling work, family and personal life, giving increasing visibility to these factors and to the companies and employers that integrate these objectives into their overall management are some of the aims of this annual award promoted by the municipality.
Three organisations will be honoured. The "Prémio + Igual" will be awarded on 24 October, Municipal Day for Equality, in a public ceremony organised by the City Council.
Among the criteria for the award is the fact that organisations assume, objectively and with visible results, that equality is an integral part of their management, culture and strategy, including plural and balanced representation of women and men in management and decision-making positions; the existence of policies and good practices for reconciling professional, family and personal life at employers, namely through flexible or adaptable working hours, continuous working hours, part-time work; the signing of protocols with social facilities and/or neighbourhood services for children and other dependents, among others.
It should be noted that the promotion of this award is part of the Municipal Plan for Equality and Non-Discrimination, presented by the Famalicense municipality in 2022.
