After Requião, Nine and Arnoso Santa Maria, Fradelos has also seen the construction of a multipurpose centre for the parish's cultural and recreational activities go ahead.
This Sunday, 26 May, the mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Mário Passos, marked the start of construction of the facility, which has long been desired by the entire Fradelos community.
The mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão believes that the future Fradelos Multipurpose Centre ‘will be a driving force behind the development of the parish’.
‘Spaces like this are fundamental for the population, above all because they reinforce their sense of belonging to the community. Recreation and leisure are very important dimensions in a person's life, so for us this is an investment of the utmost importance,’ he added.
It should be noted that the local authority has allocated municipal support of around 150,000 euros for the first phase of the work. This is a facility of around 1,200 square metres, with around 7 rooms, a café, a pantry, a dressing room, among other spaces, which will allow for the development of a cultural programme and the promotion of various recreational activities.
The president of the Parish Council, Adelino Costa, speaks of a ‘long-ignored need’. ‘We need a decent space to host the events and activities organised by our associations, which are naturally delighted that this dream has come true,’ he said.
