Realising the main challenges facing Famalicão's institutions and the territory and the main needs, ambitions and future projects of the municipality's social institutions are the main objectives of the new cycle of visits to Private Social Solidarity Institutions (IPSS) that the mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão began yesterday at Mais Plural, in Gavião.
"From a social point of view, the challenges we face are enormous and it's very important for the town hall to understand where our institutions stand and their capacity to respond," said Mário Passos.
After visiting Mais Plural, where he had the opportunity to have lunch with users, staff and management, Mário Passos said he was "very proud of all the professionals who work daily in the municipality's social institutions", to whom he took the opportunity to leave a "huge word of encouragement and thanks".
"Social solidarity institutions are a very important pillar in the development of a community and Famalicão is also fortunate in this respect to have such solid, capable and attentive organisations," he added.
Proximity has also been a hallmark of Mário Passos' leadership of Famalicão City Council. The 'Presidency of Proximity' programme, which has taken the mayor around all the parishes in the municipality, the tour of schools, local businesses and the municipality's entrepreneurial fabric are just a few examples of initiatives that have led the mayor to listen to the community.
