The monologue ‘To be or not to be’ is not only one of the most emblematic passages in Shakespeare and the entire history of Western theatre, but also a challenge that every actor aspires to perform at least once in their career. In it, Hamlet appears as a melancholic being, caught between doubt and action, unable to move forward with his desires. The Prince of Denmark acts late and makes the wrong decisions - when he makes them. But isn't that what we all do?
In ‘Remember My Sins’, this iconic text becomes the centre of an unexpected competition: a talent show in which young professional actors and elderly people with no theatrical experience will try to achieve their best version of the monologue. In this peculiar inter-generational dialogue, the play tackles themes such as regret, success, failure and the fear of death. All this in a setting reminiscent of a zombie film, where the absurd and the sublime mix.
