Signs, signalling tape, (yellow, black) and the square gestures of three characters at work. In this show, the protagonists, three rather rigid-looking security guards, are tasked with creating a safety zone using signs and signalling tape. But why this obsession with security? To whom are they preparing this space for?
The ‘Canard à Trois Têtes Collective’ is a collaboration between Ivana Girault (France), Nicolás Bustos Riquelme (Chile) and Felipe Algo (Costa Rica), three circus artists who met at the National Institute of Circus Arts - INAC, while pursuing their dream of evolving as performing artists through circus disciplines. During this process, they developed their technical and artistic skills: Ivana creates her graduation solo ‘Signalétique, l'odyssée d'un agent de sécurité’ and the idea arises to develop and expand it with three performers on stage. Each one contributing their technique and expertise to create an interdisciplinary, dynamic and complete show.
As part of its strategic partnership with the Famalicão Performing Arts Platform ‘SOBRE O PALCO’, in 2023 TNF began a National and International Artist Residency project with INAC - Instituto Nacional de Artes do Circo, providing a creative space for emerging artists and fostering dialogue between the aesthetics of contemporary circus and the local community. Curated by INAC, the companies were selected by Open Call and will be in residence at the Narciso Ferreira Theatre, performing for the local community and the public, with a post-show talk.
