As political protests against an increasingly authoritarian government intensify in Iran, Iman, a judge and investigator at the revolutionary court in Tehran, struggles to fulfil orders and keep his job. When the weapon assigned to him disappears, he begins to suspect his wife and two daughters, who are against repression and repudiate the fact that, at the behest of his superiors, he has the power to sign death warrants without investigation, evaluation of evidence or trial. This mistrust eventually escalates to a point of no return, leading him to take drastic measures that will jeopardise the strong ties that have always bound them together. Winner of the Special Jury Prize, the Fipresci and the Ecumenical Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and nominated for an Oscar for Best International Film, this is a political drama written and directed by Iranian filmmaker Mohammad Rasoulof, also the author of ‘There Is No Evil’, which won him the Golden Bear at the 70th Berlin International Film Festival.
