After leaving the asylum, Vincent Van Gogh settled in Auvers-sur-Oise, at the home of Dr Gachet, a lover and patron of the arts. Vincent continues to paint in the midst of conflicts with his brother Theo and the torments caused by his poor mental health. He embarks on an affair with Marguerite, his host's daughter. However, she soon realises that he doesn't love her and that his heart beats only for his art.
