The ‘clown’ is a character that has filled our imagination since early childhood. This representation is correlated with laughter, since one of the many functions of this character is to make us laugh. The project aims to bring foreigners and local residents closer together through participatory artistic research that correlates everyday situations in the community with the clown technique.

The ‘Artistic Residency with Community #00 [Circus]’, entitled ‘What are you laughing at?’ is a pilot project in the area of community co-creation and contemporary circus, which will take place in the CSIF of Louro, Gondifelos, Cavalões and Outiz, between January and April 2025, with artistic direction by Fértil Cultural and INAC - National Institute of Circus Arts.  The initiative is being developed by the Municipality of Famalicão, as part of the Há Cultura 2024-2027 project, in co-production with the Narciso Ferreira Theatre, and co-financed by the European Union, through the NORTE 2030 Regional Programme. Its aim is to build artistic co-creation projects with the local community, focusing on the entities of the Sobre o Palco Local Performing Arts Platform.
