The story is told from the perspective of Elphaba, who will later be known as the Wicked Witch of the West, and Glinda, the future Good Witch of the South. Long before young Dorothy arrives in the world of Oz, we meet the two sorceresses when, as girls, they are roommates at the University of Shiz. Despite a rocky start, the two end up becoming allies in the fight against the tyranny of the Wizard of Oz. This is the first part of the film version of the Broadway musical created by Stephen Schwartz.
