Original title: Ryû to sobakasu no hime (Japan, 2021) | Directed by: Mamoru Hosoda | Cast: Kaho Nakamura, Ryô Narita, Shôta Sometani | Rating: M/12 | Running time: 120 min.

After the death of her mother, to whom she was very close, Suzu distanced herself from her friends and isolated herself in her own world. One day, while surfing the internet, she enters the U world, a virtual universe with over five billion members, where she feels she finally has the opportunity to start a "new life" again. In that place, far away from the painful reality in which she has been living, Suzu becomes Belle, a very famous pop singer, self-assured and admired by all. Inspired by the story of "Beauty and the Beast", the famous short story by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont (1711-1780), this animated film was written and directed by Japanese director Mamoru Hosoda, who also wrote "The Boy and the Beast" and "Mirai" (nominated for an Oscar and a Golden Globe for best animated film). Premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, where it was cheered for 14 minutes, "Belle" was the third most watched Japanese film in its country in 2021.
