Skateboarders, BMX riders and rollerbladers can already be seen manoeuvring around Famalicão's new Skate Park.
The sports facility, located in Parque de Sinçães, was inaugurated last Saturday, 15 March, to a full house and a lot of enthusiasm from the skaters present.
Covering 1,000 square metres, the new Famalicão Skate Park has two platforms and a set of 11 obstacles (ramps, stairs, handrails and curbs). It was designed for competitive practice, following the benchmark of the Pro Skate League and its competition parks, but it is also prepared for beginners.
The project, which was highly praised by the young skaters present, involved a municipal investment of 337 thousand euros.
For the mayor, Mário Passos, ‘this is yet another investment that we see completed and yet another infrastructure that promotes the sporting reality that we advocate for Vila Nova de Famalicão, where we want sport to be effectively for everyone’.
The mayor of Famalicão has no doubt that the new Skate Park ‘will bring more practitioners to the sport’ and recalled all the investment that has been made by the municipality in Sinçães Park, pointing out as examples the recent refurbishment of the children's playground, which will soon have a new outdoor gym next to it, and also the work to expand the park to the north, with a new area of 22,000 square metres.
