The Strategic and Action Plan for Sport 2025-2030, a document that will define the vision, objectives and strategies for the future of sport in Vila Nova de Famalicão, was presented last week at the Casa das Artes, at a meeting that brought together nearly two hundred representatives of the municipality's associative and sports movement.
‘To achieve the best results, we have to develop action plans that reflect the opinion of our community. Sport is an essential pillar for the quality of life in our area and we want to continue to evolve,’ said the mayor, Mário Passos, at the meeting on 10 March.
The construction of the strategic document will be based on a multi-sectoral and participatory approach, promoting the involvement of clubs, associations, schools, companies and citizens, in order to guarantee an even more sustainable, inclusive and innovative sporting reality.
The methodology includes three fundamental stages: analysis of the current sports system, namely infrastructure, programmes and the impact of associations; community consultation and participation, through questionnaires and meetings with sports agents; and, finally, the definition of strategies and actions, aligned with national and international best practices, including the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The meeting between the municipality and the associations was also marked by the presentation of the new version of ‘Famalicão Desportivo’ (www.famalicaodesportivo.pt), a municipal portal that has existed since 2018 and has played a key role in publicising sporting events, municipal programmes and the municipality's athletes, associations and clubs.
