José Pedro Coelho, born in 1984, is a musician, saxophonist and composer living in Porto. He has a degree in Jazz-Performance from the Escola Superior de Música e Artes do Espetáculo. He has taken part in workshops with Mark Turner, Chris Cheek, Lee Konitz, Matt Wilson, Andrew di Angelo and Bill McHenry.
He has been a member of the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra since 2003. He currently has more than thirty recordings to his name, having documented his activity in various projects and with various musicians, such as Mário Barreiros, André Fernandes, Ohad Talmor, Demian Cabud, Iago Fernández, Susana Santos Silva, Baba Mongol, Coreto, Gonçalo Marques, Júlio Resende and OJM, among others. He has published Clepsydra (2012) and Pasarola Voadora (2018) under his own name, as well as Ensemble Super Moderne (2014) and WIZ (2021) as co-leader. He is one of the founding members of the Porta-Jazz association. José Pedro Coelho was Eixo do Jazz's most recent guest to work on his music, which will be performed by the Eixo do Jazz Ensemble in concert at Casa das Artes.
