The Fado 1111 musical project was born out of the artistic materialisation of the "Fadistas do Minho" entity, which aims to represent this troubadour song with student roots, between popular music and classical music: the Canção de Coimbra. "Fado1111" is made up of five members, divided between vocal interpretations and playing the Portuguese guitar (Coimbra style) or strummed viola (Coimbra tuning). While some of them have a long and established career in Canção de Coimbra, others lend their musical knowledge and artistic experience to this melodic genre. Guided by obvious criteria of aesthetic rigour, musical quality and respect for the idiosyncrasies of Canção de Coimbra, this group already has a notable presence in the north of Portugal and Galicia, as well as in the various Portuguese communities in the Diaspora. On April 7, at the Narciso Ferreira Theatre, they will present a journey through the main authors, creators and interpreters of Canção de Coimbra, through the eyes of Minho.
"Coimbra's fado (or song) is as much Coimbra's as it is everywhere's, as much ours as it is everyone's." Manuel Alegre
