Famalicenses took almost 1700 trees home

28-03-2022
Famalicenses responded en masse to another tree adoption campaign promoted by the City Council of Vila Nova de Famalicão, under the project "30 thousand trees by 2030".
The initiative took place last Saturday, 26th, in the Praça - Municipal Market, as part of the celebrations of the International Day of Forests.
In all, the famalicenses took home about 1700 autochthonous trees and bushes of 11 different species: creeping rosemary, rosemary, almond tree, cherry tree, apple tree, quince tree, strawberry tree, olive tree, pear tree, thyme and lemon thyme.
The Mayor was very pleased with the adhesion of the famalicenses to the initiative. "Sign that they are aware of the environmental issue and aligned with the goal and the objective set by the City Council of having 30 thousand trees by 2030", said Mário Passos.
The initiative is part of the project "30 thousand trees for 2030", the new environmental goal set by the City Council of Vila Nova de Famalicão to reforest the county. The project started last December, with the planting of 815 native trees in the parish of Avidos, after the first phase, between 2016 and 2021, which allowed the planting of 25 thousand trees in Famalicão.
