The Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão is creating an Action Plan for Culture that will run until 2030. The strategic document will serve as a ‘compass’ for municipal policies and, in addition to a broad diagnosis of the municipality, it will contain the strategic vision, objectives, results and targets to be achieved by the end of this decade in the cultural area.
‘Drawing up this document will allow us to obtain valuable information about the state of culture in our territory and is another working tool that we have at our disposal,‘ said Pedro Oliveira, the town council's Councillor for Culture, adding that it will result in a “structured action plan, based on an authentic ”X-ray’ of our municipality's cultural ecosystem, without neglecting the perspectives and expectations of the Famalicense community’.
It should be noted that the preparation of the Strategic and Action Plan for Culture began in the first quarter of this year, with the definition of the guidelines and the operational part. The diagnosis of the state of culture in the territory has been underway since last March, involving the consultation of technicians, institutions, artists and citizens, with a view to mapping and critically analysing the current state of the cultural and creative sector in the municipality, as well as identifying the main needs, problems and opportunities in this area.
This work was made known to the Municipal Council for Culture on 14 April, at a meeting that took place at Casa das Artes and was also marked by a technical consultation session, involving the collection of perceptions about local cultural life and the municipality's cultural policies, as well as ideas about future priorities in this area, aimed at the members of this body.
Based on the information being gathered, strategic objectives will be drawn up, which will be supported by an action plan, which will contain proposals for structuring projects, networks and partnerships, entities to be mobilised, funding opportunities, results to be achieved and guidelines for implementing, monitoring and evaluating the plan.
