Cycle Migrations, with three documentaries by Gianfranco Rosi
Samuele is 12 years old and lives on an island in the Mediterranean Sea. Like many boys of his age, he goes to school and spends his free time on the island playing with his slingshot. Around Samuele there is sea and there are men, women and children who try to cross it from Africa in small boats without the minimum conditions. The island where Samuele lives is Lampedusa, a symbolic border of Europe, where thousands of migrants seeking freedom and hope try to reach. The inhabitants of Lampedusa witness on a daily basis one of the greatest humanitarian tragedies of our times, even though these two worlds barely meet. Berlin Festival: Golden Bear, Ecumenical Jury Prize, Amnesty International Award, Berliner Morgenpost Prize.
A partnership between the Confraternity of the Holy Wounds, the Casa das Artes of Famalicão and the CineClube de Joane, included in the religious and cultural programme of Holy Week.
