‘Manga d'Terra’ tells the story of Rosa, a young woman who leaves her young children in Cape Verde and arrives in Portugal determined to make it in life. But adapting to the neighbourhoods of Reboleira, on the outskirts of Lisbon, is more difficult than she might have expected and she finds herself constantly entangled in the dynamics between the neighbourhood gangs and the police themselves, who have long since ceased to distinguish between the real criminals and the good people. It will be in music and in the generosity shown by the women of the community that Rosa will find the strength to move on.
