Megalopolis is an epic story in the style of classical Rome, set in an imaginary contemporary America. The City of New Rome has to change, which opens up a conflict between Cesar Catilina, an artist of genius trying to achieve a utopian and idealistic future, and his opponent, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a reactionary status quo, perpetuating greed, corruption and partisan warfare. Torn between these two sides is Julia Cicero, the mayor's daughter, whose love for Cesar has made her loyalties waver, forcing her to discover what she believes humanity really deserves.
