Sylvia is a social worker and single mum who goes to her high school class reunion. This not only opens up old wounds, but also makes her cross paths with Saul, a man who sits next to her, smiling, and then stalks her when she leaves. The next morning, she finds him asleep near her house, calls his brother and realises that he suffers from early onset dementia, with disorientation and memory problems. She recognises him, but he says he doesn't remember her. This is how a complex drama by Mexican Michel Franco begins, which premiered at the 2023 Venice Film Festival, where it competed for the Golden Lion and won Sarsgaard a Volpi Cup award for best actor.
