Along the way, she meets up with nomads like herself, who teach her various survival techniques and whose friendship and generosity will change the way she sees the world. Starring Frances McDormand, this dramatic film is based on "Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century" (2017), an autobiographical book in which Jessica Bruder tells her story. Winner of the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival, the film won Academy Awards for Best Picture, Best Director and Best Actress.
