It's only natural that Mário Cesariny's voice should touch us intensely. The poet resonated like no other, giving words his deep voice, full of humanity, disenchantment when it had to be, and strangeness too, he who wrote like he painted, always in search of the mystery that could not be unravelled between the lines.
In this project, the poets - Rodrigo Leão and Gabriel Gomes, who are joined here by the voice of Miguel Borges and the ghost of Cesariny who lives on forever in the recordings - rediscover the ever-new poetry of the surreal man who wrote as he painted and painted as he wrote.
On this centenary of the painter-poet's birth, Gabriel Gomes on accordion and Rodrigo Leão on synthesisers also paint new sound pictures for Mário Cesariny's words, in a bow that is agitation, that is a demand for new meanings because language continues to unfold, to mould us. Man in Eclipse is therefore a celebration, with Cesariny's poetic material at the centre, and Miguel Borges' music and voice taking that material as the starting point for a fascinating journey.
