‘The only censorship that should exist is to censor censorship,’ is Julião Sarmento's phrase, the paradigmatic voice of an art that always wants to be free, always preparing for future times, times of diversity, advancement and concord between differences of thought and will. Based on Fernando Lopes-Graça's powerful and symbolic Requiem for the Victims of Fascism in Portugal, and inspired by Sarmento's imagery of restlessness, in an articulation between the harshness of a form/standard and the voluptuousness of giving body and life to desire, the aim is to create an almost ambiguous scenic environment, in a space where creative freedom is moulded by the memory of an absence of free thought and free will, whose echoes today continue to weaken the scope of full freedom. A multidimensionality where memory is reflected in a videographic space, the fruit of a past that may be all too present today.
