RETIMBRAR is a vibrant movement from Porto, currently orchestrated by 8 musicians who seek to think and create their music from Portuguese musical traditions, compositions that are rooted in the diversity of national folklore, popular poetry and orality.

After ‘Voa Pé’ (2010), their second album ‘Levantar do Chão’ - released in 202 with the support of Rádio Antena 1 - led to numerous concerts at Portuguese festivals and theatres. Outside Portugal, they have played at Jazz Sous Les Pommiers (France), Mumi (Spain), Street Artists Festival (Serbia) and Expo 2020 Dubai (United Arab Emirates). Retimbar was the Opening Artist at WOmex'21. The single ‘Maçãzinha’ with Uxia, from aRi(t)mar Galicia and Portugal, was honoured as the Best Portuguese Song of 2022. In 2023, the prestigious world music label Putumayo released the single ‘Maneio’ as part of the ‘World Party’ series.

Over the years they have collaborated with various musical artists such as Galandum Galundaina, Teresa Salgueiro, Marta Pereira da Costa, Uxía, Manel Cruz, Sopa de Pedra, Olive Tree Dance or: Papercutz. In February 2025, they will perform at the Folk Alliance International in Montreal, Canada, as part of ‘Country Focus Portugal’, marking the band's debut on the American continent.
