Telhado hosts a summer concert of the International Organ Festival

09-06-2022
The FIO - International Organ Festival is returning to the municipality of Famalicão, with a summer concert in the Mother Church of Telhado. The vocal group Officium Ensemble, under the direction of Pedro Teixeira, is the protagonist of this classical music performance that takes place on June 18, at 21h00, and also features the organist Sérgio Silva.

The ensemble presents itself with "Novas Flores de Música" (New Flowers of Music), a project that aims at valuing contemporary Portuguese composition, while paying tribute to the figure of Manuel Rodrigues Coelho (c.1555-1637), whose Music Flowers were published in Lisbon four hundred years ago. At the same time, it seeks to dynamise the heritage of historical Portuguese organs, through contemporary creation.

FIO is organised by Tagus - Atlanticus Associação Cultural and by the company JMS Organaria. The festival takes place in the municipalities of Santo Tirso and Vila Nova de Famalicão, territories with a strong organ heritage, and counts on the support of these municipalities.
