From acclaimed director Alexander Payne, The Excluded is a comedy that follows a grumpy teacher (Paul Giamatti) from a prestigious American school who is forced to stay on campus during the Christmas holidays to look after the few students who have nowhere else to go. However, he forms an unlikely friendship with one of these students - a troubled and intelligent young man (newcomer Dominic Sessa) - and with the school's head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam, played by Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress.
