The Famalicão City Council approved this Thursday, 11 July, at a meeting of the municipal executive, the award of the contract for the construction of the new Family Health Unit (USF) in Joane, a project that represents an investment of 2.1 million euros, with an execution time of 540 days.
Having completed the public tender phase, the municipality will now begin construction of the new Family Health Unit, on a plot of land located on Rua da Ribeira, near the town centre, in a project that includes more than a dozen medical offices, spaces dedicated to general health care, nursing, women's and children's health care offices, administrative area, support area and waiting rooms, sanitary facilities, among other spaces.
"It's a project that we've been demanding for a long time and we want to realise it quickly. It's another step towards improving the municipality's healthcare facilities, which will guarantee an effective response to the population's healthcare needs," said Mayor Mário Passos at the end of this morning's executive meeting.
The construction of the new USF in Joane is the result of a series of programme contracts signed by the Municipality of Famalicão with the Northern Regional Health Administration, which served as the basis for submitting applications to the Recovery and Resilience Plan (PRR), with a view to building and equipping primary healthcare facilities. In addition to Joane, the construction of the new São Miguel-o-Anjo USF in Calendário was also recently awarded. Note also the construction projects for the USFs in Nine and Ruivães and the upgrading of the Famalicão Health Centre and the Pneumological Diagnostic Centre.
