‘The way up and the way down are the same.’
Heraclitus

‘Where the ground drags the sky and the sky rubs against the ground, two characters embark on a journey to get somewhere, or get back somewhere. Uncertain of their final destination, they explore the borders of two inverse universes, confronting their polarities and immersing themselves in the alchemy of two apparatuses, where each piece takes on a new form. An abundance of paths and universes emerge in the continuous and evolving cycle of construction and deconstruction. Where dogs meow and cats bark, here belong the floor trapeze artists and the heroes who do the pin with their hands in the air. Where will they go?’

Oppo is a multidisciplinary duo based in France. Emerging from the experiences of two artists from different backgrounds and enriched by the diversity of their experiences, it expresses itself through corporeality and technique. Eva developed her analytical and scientific mind when she graduated from FCUL before diving into the world of circus. She completed her professional training as a circus and movement artist at INAC in Portugal, specialising in pins. Georgie began her circus journey in New York, interrupting it to study dance and multidisciplinary arts before going on to train at the FLIC school in Italy, specialising in trapeze dance. Their partnership was born in France, where they crossed paths during their artistic training at the Arc en Cirque school. Together they explore the interstitial spaces between their identities, histories and circus apparatuses, seeking to find the points of fusion between their polarities.
