At its last ordinary meeting, the Vila Nova de Famalicão municipal executive approved the procedure for launching the public tender for the construction of the Brufe Primary School and Kindergarten, a contract with a base price of 2.9 million euros.
The future school, to be built in Rua dos Tanques, next to the current Parish Council building, will bring together the parish's three current school buildings - Carvalhos Primary School, Lagarinhos Primary School and Brufe Kindergarten.
‘It's yet another investment in the school park, which will clearly improve the educational offer and quality, building a new building in a central space for which we have planned other investments that will enrich and give the parish a new centre,’ said the mayor at the end of the municipal executive meeting. ‘The parish has long yearned for a new school building to bring together the schools that are scattered in other buildings,’ he added.
The work was the subject of an application approved under Portugal 2030 and will be prepared to receive around 150 students in a modern building adapted to the new educational challenges, with a view to environmental sustainability, comfort and functionality. The project includes the construction of a building with two classrooms for pre-school education, four classrooms for primary education, a library, a canteen, a teachers' room, atriums and technical areas. Outside, there are plans to build a playing field, playground, vegetable garden and landscaped areas.
‘The project goes beyond the simple construction of a building with classrooms. More facilities have been added, including spaces that are increasingly necessary for a quality educational project,’ explained the mayor.
It's worth remembering that the work will take place on an area of land where the municipality has also planned to build the parish's future leisure park.
The contract for the future Brufe Primary School and Kindergarten will take 480 days to complete.
