The new Delães Auditorium was inaugurated last Saturday, 9 November, and opened its doors to mark Parish Day and welcome various groups and associations from Delães, in an example of what is planned for this new space.
‘It's a dream come true,’ said the president of the Parish Council, Francisco Gonçalves, at the ceremony.
"Delães has several associations and cultural projects that now have space to work, grow and develop. It's a space that we didn't have and that we've wanted for a long time and now it's important that the people of Delães bring this stage to life," added the mayor.
It should be noted that the new Delães Auditorium, which had a municipal investment of 1.1 million euros, is equipped with a stage, a régie, dressing rooms, support spaces and 268 seats for the public.
For the Mayor, Mário Passos, this will be an infrastructure to support the cultural and community dynamics of the parish.
‘It's an investment we're making, which is in line with the policy of cultural decentralisation that we've also been promoting, but more than that, it's an investment for the people because this work will also cement the sense of community among the people of Delães,’ said the mayor.
It should be remembered that the construction of this new auditorium corresponds to the second phase of the Casa de Delães project, a space at the service of the Delães community that is the result of the refurbishment of the parish's old Health Centre.
Delães Parish Day and the inauguration of the new space was also marked by a tribute to all the former mayors who have been part of the Parish Assembly since 1974.
