Devesa Sunset kicked off last Friday, 2 August, with a concert by Milhanas. The Portuguese singer-songwriter brought more than half a thousand people to Parque da Devesa for a modern, dynamic and lively show. Flyte, a project by English artists Will Taylor and Nick Hill, will be the next band to take to the Devesa Sunset stage, in an absolute first for this British duo in Portugal. The concert starts at 19h00, next to the city park lake, with free entry.
The duo, who have already established themselves as a leading indie/folk band in the UK and whose work has been critically acclaimed, have released three albums: "The Loved Ones" (2017), "This Is Really Going To Hurt" (2021) and "Flyte" (2023), released at the end of last year.
"The Loved Ones" (2017), recorded with Burke Reid (Julia Jacklin, Courtney Barnett) in the Australian outback, explored how people struggle to process love and earned them the title of "Best British Debut of the Year" by the Sunday Times.
Their second album "This Is Really Going To Hurt" (2021) took them to Los Angeles (USA) to work with producer Andrew Sarlo (Bon Iver, Big Thief).
After an extensive tour of Europe and North America, the band once again joined Andrew Sarlo, this time at the famous Konk Studios in London, to record their latest album "Flyte" (2023), released at the end of last year and which they are presenting for the first time in Portugal, after a concert at the Glastonbury festival (England) in June this year.
Until the 23rd of August, the artist Nancy Vieira, on the 16th of August, and Cristovám, on the 23rd, will also be giving sunset concerts in Famalicense's green lung, closing this year's Devesa Sunset programme.
Promoted since 2015 by the Municipality of Vila Nova de Famalicão, Devesa Sunset takes place on Fridays in August, in a relaxed atmosphere that brings culture together with nature. The concerts, which are free to attend, always take place by the lake in Devesa Park at 19h00.
