Around 140,000 visitors decided to explore and get to know the traditions, delicacies, uses and customs highlighted at the Famalicão Crafts and Gastronomy Fair. The event took place over ten days and ended this Sunday.
The 39th edition of the Crafts and Gastronomy Fair featured 20 shows by artists from Famalicão and big names in music, such as Plutonio, António Zambujo, Ana Laíns, among others. Close to a hundred artisans and gastronomic producers from all over the country also took part.
Abílio Macedo, from Vila do Conde, was one of the artisans who took part in the event for the first time and is one of the participants who hopes to return for the next edition. ‘I thought it was a wonderful experience: I really enjoyed the dynamics of the fair and the friendliness of the organisation,’ he said. ‘It's always a pleasure to see people take an interest in our handicrafts, especially when we have so many visitors.’
For the mayor of Vila Nova de Famalicão, the fair offered ‘ten days of sharing, socialising and lots of culture’. ‘The number of visitors shows once again that this is one of the most important and highly regarded fairs of its kind in the region and in the country, and one that is truly appreciated,’ he said.
The mayor also took the opportunity to thank the people who visited the Crafts and Gastronomy Fair and those who contributed to ‘making the event the best it could be’. Mário Passos also highlighted the artisans, gastronomic producers and restaurants who ‘once again trusted Famalicão to showcase their craft’ and ‘the artists who enlivened the event’.
