From 27 to 29 September, Vila Nova de Famalicão will once again host the S. Miguel Fair. Unlike previous editions, this year's event will take place in Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque.
The S. Miguel Fair promotes a centuries-old tradition and shows the community some of the oldest customs that marked the origins of the municipality of Famalicão. One of the highlights of this event is the usual defoliation, which is scheduled for the 29th, Sunday, at 18h00.
The event starts on Friday 27th with the opening of the S. Miguel Fair. The Feira Franca, which is part of the festivities, takes place on Sunday 29th between 7am and 6pm at the weekly market.
On Saturday, at 4.30pm, families can take part in a workshop with seasonal food in the kitchen of the Praça-Mercado Municipal. At 8pm, the Arraial Night begins, which will be entertained by the Nine Folkloric Group, the Oliveira Santa Maria Folkloric Group and the Divine Saviour Folkloric Group from Delães. Later, at 11.30pm, the Municipal Market Square will be entertained by DJ Pedro Ribeiro.
Praça Mouzinho de Albuquerque will also host two rounds of concertinas and ‘cantares ao desafio’. The first round will take place on Saturday at 3pm and the second will start at 3pm on Sunday.
