The Mayor of Famalicão, Mário Passos, continued his ‘Proximity Presidency’ tour yesterday with a visit to the Esmeriz and Cabeçudos parishes.
‘Touring the area makes me certain that we have carried out work and investment with judgement and in a balanced way,’ he said at the end of his visit this Tuesday.
The mayor began his tour at Cabeçudos Kindergarten, following on from the visits he has made to school buildings throughout his term of office, where he shared lunch.
Mário Passos also visited the 5D textile company, specialising in denim clothing, located in Esmeriz, which produces garments for prestigious national and international brands. ‘We started out as a local company, but we invested in internationalisation and today we have a significant market share in the United States,’ said Carlos Pereira, the company's CEO.
On the ground, Mário Passos visited the paving works on Rua Nova de Palhais, and the work starting on Avenida Dr Carlos Bacelar and on Rua de Santarém and Rua do Juncal.
The enlargement of the cemetery, the construction of the Cabeçudos mortuary and the remodelling of the space next to the Esmeriz church are projects that the president of the Union of Parishes, Armindo Mourão, pointed out as priorities and which received the attention of the mayors yesterday. ‘The mortuary will be in the parish centre and the cemetery has land to be enlarged and we'll be moving ahead with the work very soon,’ while the work near the church in Esmeriz “will complete the whole set of investments made near the Social Centre and the recently opened mortuary chapel,” added Armindo Mourão.
It should also be noted that the municipality recently carried out work on two multi-sports centres, located in the São Paulo housing estate and in Rua dos Escuteiros, which are now suitable for practising various sports, such as football and basketball.
During the meeting with the associative movement, Mário Passos heard ambitions, projects and challenges, but also a lot of praise for the work recently carried out in the Union of Parishes, such as the parish centre, the São Marçal chapel and the mortuary chapel.
