A space for leisure and promoting physical exercise that will create a new centre in the parish. This will be the future leisure park in Nine, which will be built on a plot of land acquired by the municipality with around 6,000 square metres, located in the centre of the parish, where the Casa do Povo services are also planned to be expanded.
Both projects received the attention of Famalicense mayor Mário Passos, who was in Nine last Thursday, 6 March, as part of the ‘Proximity Presidency’ tour.
‘We've been working on the project for the future leisure park for a long time, with the aim of providing the parish with a facility of this nature, creating here a point of reference for the parish, which is growing rapidly,’ said mayor Paulo Oliveira.
Also of note is the construction of the parish's new multi-purpose centre, which is nearing completion, and the new Family Health Unit, estimated at 1.4 million euros, which will go ahead with the support of the PRR.
‘Nine has been growing. In recent years, around 200 new homes have been built and we're following up this growth with structural investments, such as the new multipurpose centre, the future health unit and the leisure park, in order to provide the conditions for this growth to be sustained and harmonious,’ stressed Mário Passos.
In addition to these projects, there are also investments that have already been made, such as the recent paving of the 562 municipal road, a project with an investment of 149,000 euros, on the link between Avenida da Estação and Rua dos Caçadores, or the refurbishment of the Coura children's playground, next to which is the sports centre that will also be refurbished.
‘There's work done here, but there are also new projects, such as the possibility of building a new car park next to the station or the intervention in Rua dos Quintórios that we intend to carry out,’ added the Mayor.
Mário Passos also had the opportunity to visit the rehabilitation works inside the parish church - which received 50,000 euros in support from the municipality - and to meet, as is customary during his visits to the parishes, with the different local movements.
The mayor's visit to Nine also took in the parish's kindergarten and the Caparosa company, a sock production unit that employs around 30 workers and produces for international brands such as Umbro and Le Coq Sportif.
‘Nine's growth is the result of the committed work of the mayors, but also of the great dynamism of the different parish movements and their people,’ said Mário Passos.
The mayor will continue his tour of the municipality this Tuesday, 11 March, with a view to the town of Joane.
