The Mayor of Famalicão, Mário Passos, announced in Lousado the construction of a new multi-purpose centre, a project that will serve the associations and movements of the parish. The mayor was in Lousado as part of the ‘Proximity Presidency’ tour he is taking around the municipality.
‘The multipurpose spaces that we have already inaugurated have been praised for their numerous functionalities and dynamics, which have served the associations. In Lousado, the population has long expressed this need and we're going ahead with the project,’ announced Mário Passos at the meeting he held with representatives of Lousado's sports, social and cultural associations.
The parish council has already identified land where the project can be built and it was with satisfaction that the council president, Jorge Ferreira, received the municipality's commitment. ‘It will be a facility for everyone to use and for all the initiatives that fortunately take place so often in Lousado.’
Mário Passos also announced his intention to build a leisure park, which will be a meeting place for the local people.
During his visit to the parish, Mário Passos reported on the intervention planned for the Family Health Unit building, with rehabilitation and the creation of new spaces in the existing building to better serve users.
Another topic discussed by the mayors during their visit to Lousado was the extension of the cemetery, on land owned by the parish council. ‘This is already a step towards realising the project,’ said Jorge Ferreira.
In addition to the work carried out, such as those near the chapel of S. Lourenço and in Rua de Santa Marinha, other investments were discussed, such as the intervention in Rua de Fontainhas, the access to the future bypass, which will link the municipality of Famalicão to Trofa.
With a strong industrial presence, Rsteel, a metal tube factory that has been in Lousado since 2012, visited the economic fabric.
The next stop on the ‘Proximity Presidency’ route is the parish of Esmeriz, where Mário Passos will be next Tuesday.
