On last Thursday (February 13), the mayor of Famalicão, Mário Passos, visited the new showroom of AMOB, a company based in Louro and dedicated to manufacturing equipment for the metalworking industry.
AMOB develops tube and sheet metal forming machines, from the simplest manual equipment to the most complex CNC systems, with full product development, from design to installation and technical assistance in sectors as diverse as the automobile, shipbuilding, aeronautics and construction industries, among others.
‘We are machine tailors,’ says CEO Manuel Barros, referring to the customised solutions the company produces for its clients. ‘Customers usually bring us the problem and the idea for the end product and we develop the entire project to find a tailor-made solution capable of making the production process the customer wants profitable,’ he explains.
The brand is present all over the world and its main clients come from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Germany, the Netherlands and Mexico, which explains why around 90 per cent of its turnover - around 30 million euros a year - comes from exports.
The new showroom and demonstration and technical training centre that has now opened is a space that aims to respond to the needs of customers arriving from all over the world. ‘As well as a product exhibition where they can interactively explore the most advanced tube bending and forming machines, our customers have a space here that will also be used for training and experimenting with the machines we produce for them,’ added Manuel Barros.
‘It's one of the world's leading brands in this segment, taking Famalicão's name all over the world through products of excellence and a high level of innovation and development, which makes us proud,’ said Mayor Mário Passos.
It should be noted that the company has around 200 workers with a high level of knowledge and training, ‘a mirror of qualification and specialisation and who generate wealth and added value for the area’, said the mayor.
AMOB's new showroom and demonstration and technical training centre is an exhibition space that is part of the company's industrial unit in Louro.
