Students from the D. Sancho I, Camilo Castelo Branco and Padre Benjamim Salgado school groups won this year's edition of the ‘My Project is an Entrepreneur’ competition in the Industry, Agri-food, Technology, Commerce and Service categories, respectively.
The competition, promoted by the Municipality of Famalicão through the Local Education and Training Network, seeks to recognise and value the work done by vocational education students during their school career, with projects that add value to the market, are innovative and entrepreneurial.
This year's competition featured 18 projects in four categories. In Industry, the winning project was ‘Speed Control and Mobile Pump’ developed by students Daniel de Castro and Francisco Silva, who attended the Electrotechnics technical course at D. Sancho I Secondary School. In the Technology category, the winner was Tomás Neves Santos, from the Computer Systems Management and Programming technical course at Camilo Castelo Branco Secondary School, with his ‘Soluntion4Blind’ project. In the Trade and Services category, the prize went to the ‘Motorway Security System’ project by students Diogo Azevedo Simões and André Pereira, from the Electrotechnics, Automation and Computers technical course at Padre Benjamim Salgado Secondary School. In the Agri-food category, the prize was awarded to the project ‘Carob biscuit with insect flour’ by student Bruno Meireles, from the Food Processing and Quality Control technical course at Camilo Castelo Branco Secondary School.
The prize-giving ceremony - worth 1,000 euros to the winners - took place last Thursday, 24 October, at Universidade Lusíada, where the students had their work on display for the jury's appreciation.
‘My Project is an Entrepreneur’ was sponsored by the companies Louropel, CEVE - Cooperativa Elétrica do Vale do Este, Continental and Grupo Primor.
